The Regional Educational Laboratory Appalachia (REL AP) @ SRI International partnered with the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, the Virginia Community College System, and the Virginia Department of Education to co-develop and pilot a user-friendly data collection protocol that practitioners can use to examine college access providers’ adoption of evidence-based postsecondary transition support strategies, the rigor with which they are evaluating new and innovative strategies, and indicators of program effectiveness. The goal of the project is to develop a guided data collection protocol that can be applied to help identify gaps in access services, support continuous improvement efforts, and suggest directions for future study. After introducing REL AP, presenters will highlight the research and evaluation literature informing the protocol, solicit participants’ input on a draft of the protocol, and facilitate participants’ application of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) evidence levels to an intervention promoting successful postsecondary transitions.
